Funeral Costs

We know in these difficult economic times many families are concerned about funeral costs. At Riverview we want every family that we serve to know that "dignity and economy" go hand in hand. We also understand the importance of "shop and compare" when it comes to funerals. Every funeral home, by law, must supply you upon request a copy of their General Price List also known as a "GPL". If you want to take a "short-cut" so to speak, a good way of knowing what the overall cost of services will be is to simply ask the funeral home: "What is your fee for basic arrangements?" If you compare that cost alone, that will provide you with an excellent method to help you determine if that funeral home is going to "fit" into your budgetary requirements.

A definition of what "Basic Arrangements" entails is as follows: This fee includes the services of the funeral director, other staff, equipment and facilities to respond to the initial request for service. The arrangement conference, securing of all necessary authorizations and permits, coordination of ceremony plans with all parties involved in the final disposition of the deceased.

The fee for this service at the Riverview Funeral Home is $895.00. We respectfully invite you to "shop and compare". Also know that we will work with all our families to assure that they receive the funeral services they want at a price they can afford. That is our pledge to you.

If you are planning or thinking about setting up a "pre-arranged, pre-paid" funeral account here is a helpful hint: Ask the funeral director if the "Professional Services" portion of the contract will be "price guaranteed". (Professional Services are items that include: "Basic Arrangements Fee", use of facilities and staff, embalming, etc.) This one point alone is very important! If this portion of your pre-paid contract is NOT guaranteed this could and would probably cost you or your family hundreds of dollars more at the time the contract monies are required. The reason being that over the course of time funeral prices, as with most everything else, increase in cost sometimes tied to the rate of inflation or other sundry reasons. Therefore, the funeral home will ask the family to make up the "difference" in those "professional services" costs from the time that the contract was originally signed to the time when it's needed. At the Riverview Funeral Home we help and encourage you to control funeral costs. That is why, WE GUARANTEE, that once you pre-pay for these arrangements we will NEVER ask for additional funds to cover the increase in the Professional Services cost of your contract and we provide that in writing!
