Obituary of Marlene A. Conlan
TROY –
Marlene A. Conlan, 91, of Troy, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on April 11, 2025.
A lifelong resident of Troy, she was born on September 4, 1933 to the late Ralph and Marjorie (Tyler) Andrews. Marlene was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School class of 1950, and worked for the State of New York in the Taxation and Finance Department for 25 years until she retired in 2000. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Troy and was previously a long time member of the Oakwood Avenue Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years until it’s closure. During that time, Marlene sang in the choir, served as an elder, treasurer and as a clerk.
An avid horsewoman, she owned several horses during her lifetime, the last of which was donated to the Victoria Acres Equine Facility in Guilderland, where he enjoys his elder years as a therapy horse for disabled children. Marlene acted in plays within several community theatre productions including Titanic, Steel Magnolias and the Importance of Being Earnest.
She is survived by her son, Edward J. Conlan, Jr. and daughter Shelley (Conlan) Maloney-Power, as well as her five out of six grandchildren: Sean Michael Maloney (Maya Seiden), Erin Conlan, Robert Polson, Jonathan Conlan and Gadria Kalinowski. Nine great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive. Marlene was not only predeceased by her parents, but also her youngest grandson Tyler James Polson in 2006 as well as an infant daughter, Marjorie, in 1960.
Relatives and Friends are invited to pay their respects and visit with the family from 4-7PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180.
The Funeral Service will commence at 11 o’clock on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in the First United Presbyterian Church, 1917 5th Avenue, Troy, NY 12180 with the Rev. Marranda Major, officiating. A Private Cremation will follow and Interment of her Cremated Remains will take place at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
