Obituary of Edward F. Soltys

COHOES –

Edward F. Soltys, 77, of Cohoes, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025.

He was born on November 4, 1947 and was a son of the late Felix and Jane (Dzik) Soltys. Edward was raised in Cohoes and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Cohoes High School and also Hudson Valley Community College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Mr. Soltys was a skilled carpenter for 54 years. His extensive career started with Devane's Flooring and then as the proprietor of his own company, S&S Floor Covering. Toward the end of Ed’s career he worked for Condos Floor Covering in Schenectady NY and finally retired from Carpenters Union Local 291, where he was a member.

Ed was a man that could build anything for anyone. There isn't a family member or friend’s home that his talent doesn't lay in. Ed loved being around his family and friends, he looked forward to Holidays, BBQ's and most importantly his fishing excursions at the Lakes and Ocean.

Survivors include his siblings and their spouses: Josephine (Chester) Glogowski, Christine (the late Arthur) Sorel, Diane DeVault and Jeannie (the late Manny) Sandoval. Edward also leaves behind many Nieces and Nephews he dearly loved, as well as a great friend Tony (Marilyn) Cassidy and Dave Keeney.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by a brother, Stephan (Lorraine) Soltys.

Special Thanks to Sorel Family and very close friends Tony Cassidy and Dave Keeney for all their help, compassion and care to Ed when he needed it most.

Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 1-4PM on Sunday, August 17, 2025 in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180, where a funeral service will take place that same evening at 4 o’clock in the funeral home. Interment will be Monday Morning, August 18, 2025 in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Waterford, where committal prayers will be offered at 10 o’clock. All are welcomed.
