Obituary of David S. Urquhart

Troy, NY

David S. Urquhart, 78, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Samaritan Hospital after a short illness.  Born in Cohoes, David spent most of his life in Troy.

He was employed for 30 years as a groundsman for Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.  After retiring from Albany Rural, David worked maintenance, part-time at the Rensselaer County Courthouse for 10 years.

Among David’s hobbies and pastimes were gardening, the Casino’s, bingo, where he meet his wife, Gladys, of 41 years, and his favorite times of all, family events where he especially enjoyed the food.  A son, Donald Laurin, predeceased him.

Besides his wife, David is survived by children: Gerald (Laura) Laurin of Xenia, OH, Elaine (“Kip”) McHargue and Annette (Arthur) Simard both of Troy, NY, seven siblings: Dorothy (Neil) Taber, Don Hines, Jean Catone, Sharron Smith, Samuel (Shiow-li) Urquhart, Donna and Eleanor Urquhart.  He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2^ndAvenue (corner of 104^thSt), Lansingburgh.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Riverview Funeral Home from 12 Noon to 2 PM, prior to the service.  Interment in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
