Obituary of Shirley Monique Carroway

God always knows when to intervene in our lives.  When one gets sick God does one of two things, He raises the person up and puts them back on their feet; or He decides to enter them into a state of final rest in “His Garden”.

Shirley Monique Carroway entered into eternal rest while under Hospice Care on September 1, 2018 at (:13am at her brother and sister-inlaw’s home in Troy, New York.

Shirley Monique was born to Matthew, Sr. and Juanita Johnson in Bronx, NY on November 15, 1958. She was one of three children. Her parents moved to Camden, NJ, where she attended Camden Catholic School.

Shirley Monique met and married Robert Carroway in 1978 and to this union four children were born; Robert Jr., Shonda, Tyrone and Miracle.  “Children’s children are a crown to the aged and parents are the pride of their children” (Proverbs 17:6…NIV).  She has eight grandchildren and she enjoyed having them in her presence.  Ms. Carroway enjoyed reading and cooking.  While cooking, she would listen to R & B and some of her favorite artists; Dianna Ross, Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin.

Ms. Shirley relocated to Troy, NY in 2013.  On June 5, 2017 she joined, “I GIVE YOU PEACE MINISTRIES”.  She was employed by Popeye’s Chicken, Hoosick St. in Troy.

Her co-workers were always glad to see her come to work.  Monique and the owners of Popeye’s bonded.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her brother Matthew Johnson (Yolanda) of Troy, NY, three children: Shonda, Tyrone and Miracle Carroway of Lindenwold, NJ.  She also leaves her eight grandchildren: Dejon, Darius, Tyshaun and Alexis Carroway, Xzaveion Baskerville, C’asia Weems, Damira Caldwell and Keith Daily who will think of her often.

Those that preceded her in death were her son, Robert Carroway, her parents Matthew Sr. and Juanita Johnson and her brother John Johnson.
