Obituary of Daniel C. Gipe

TROY-

Daniel Charles Gipe, 52, of Troy, passed away peacefully, on  September 29, 2018.

Born in Troy on April 24, 1966, Daniel was the son of James T. Gipe, Sr. and Vivian Schabhetl.

Beloved son to James T. Gipe, Sr. and Vivian Schabhetl, as well as stepdad Robert Schabhetl.

Loving father of Leslie Gipe (DJ LaValley) Anthony Gipe (Elizabeth) Daniel Gipe (Brittney Smith) and Brooke Bombardier.

Cherished grandfather of Clayton Weyant, Kendall Gipe, Anthony Gipe, Jr., Elaina Devoe, Eoin Carrato Gipe and Mae Carrato Gipe

Dearest brother of James T. Gipe, Jr., Millie (Gipe) Collette, Douglas Gipe, Sr. (Mary), Sheryl Coumbes (Gary), David Gipe, Sr., Jeffrey Gipe, (Christina), JoAnne Mele (Scott) and Stephanie Schabhetl.

Also survived by his mentor and dear friend Jeff Dooley, as well as several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Dan was always employed doing what he loved most, as an installer of ceramic tile in flooring.  He enjoyed riding his Harley and was avid in hunting and fishing. He found peace playing his guitar, which he also enjoyed.  Dan was known for “busting people’s chops” but most of all for his love for his children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 2nd at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Lansingburgh, where funeral services will commence at 1 p.m., followed by Interment in Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Daniel’s memory be made to either the Ronald McDonald House 139 S Lake Ave, Albany, NY 12208 or the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Blvd, Rensselaer, NY 12144
