Harold Gene Cornell, Jr. 66, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 1, 2019 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Albany after a long illness. Born in Albany, NY, Harold was the son of the late Harold Gene and Katherine Horswell Cornell. Harold spent the majority of his life in the Albany area.
Harold proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years from 1974-1978 as a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist with the 57th Equipment Maintenance Squadron and was a member of the local VFW. Harold also worked as a chef at Cornell University for twenty years and finally at Comfort Windows in Albany for 3 years before retiring. In his spare time he enjoyed watching the food channel and loved cars.
Harold leaves behind to mourn his loss his devoted wife of 9 years, Elizabeth “Betty” G. Buck Cornell, three sons: James Michael Cornell of Watervliet, NY, Michael Anthony Cornell of Dallas, TX and Robert Eugene Cornell of Cohoes, NY, as well as two siblings: Ritha Snyder and Robert Cornell, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with full military honors will be conducted at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871, on Monday, October 7th at 1 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and should arrive at the cemetery on Monday afternoon by 12:45 pm.
