Paul Mattheisen (my uncle) and Arthur Young were collaborators and close friends for decades. They shared such a devotion to literature and learning that they were both in my eyes the essence of absent-minded professors—devoted to the realm of Ideas. Paul passed away some years ago. May they both Rest In Peace In the comfort that they both realized their passion in life.

Dr. Young was one of my favorite professors at Russell Sage. As an English major, my fondest memories are of his James Joyce class. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
