Obituary of John Vincent Strother

BALLSTON LAKE~

John Vincent "Jack" Strother passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 after a long and valiant battle with Cancer.

Born in Mineola, NY Jack moved with his family to Clifton Park, NY in 2001. He attended Chango Elementary School, Gowana Middle School, Shenendehowa High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He worked for Staples, Mosaic and the Psychadelicatessen.

Jack was always a very bright and inquisitive person. From his earliest days to the end he had a zeal for life that is uncommon in man. Jack always wanted to help and participate in everything and he was good at whatever game or work was at hand.

Jack had many interests and was eager to share those interests with others.

He was a gifted guitarist and musician. He spent many years playing music with his family and friends and his influence in this regard will carry on for many generations to come.

He played Rec soccer and loved a good pick-up game. And he got to play with the same group of kids from elementary school through to graduation. He also liked other sports and always wanted to try new ones.

Jack would sometimes say he did not like school but he certainly spent a lot of his time in academic pursuits - he excelled in education. He had close relationships with his teachers and classmates and he was determined to gain one or more advanced degrees.

Jack was an industrious and hard worker and gained his Driver's license and employment on the first days he was eligible. He was always getting accolades at work and loved his co-workers. He ended up being the youngest rep to work for one of the Microsoft Channel Partners and was proud of his income and independence. He also had several independent studies and entrepreneurial endeavors as well.

But one of the greatest things about Jack was his capacity to love. He was uncompromising in his kindness and his devotion to his family and friends and he was deeply loved in return.

He was deeply beloved and is survived by his father, Douglas M. Strother Sr.; his mother, Kathryn L. Strother (Nee Amatetti); his brother, Douglas M. Strother Jr.; his sister, Isabel M. Strother; his grandparents, and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
