Obituary of Genevieve Zampier

Troy, NY- Genevieve (Nagengast) Zampier passed away at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home in North Greenbush on January 14, 2016. She was born in Troy and lived most of her life in Brunswick. She was the daughter of the late John Nagengast and Barbara (Stehle) Nagengast, and was predeceased by her loving husband of seventy years, Joseph L. Zampier, who passed away on December 4, 2014. Mrs. Zampier attended Catholic Central High School and the former Troy Business College. She was employed as a secretary prior to her marriage; she then became a homemaker for most of her life. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy (Sycaway) and was a member of its Prayer Network and a former member of the Altar Rosary Society. Genevieve was also an Adorer at St. Paul's Chapel in Troy for 20 years, and a member of the Nocturnal Society of Latham. She is survived by her five children, James (Maryann) Zampier of Brunswick, Jeanne (William) Kelley of Colonie, Nancy (Raymond) Brooks of Pittstown, Robert (Charlene) Zampier of Melrose, and Marlene (Charles) Boland of Brunswick. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-five great grandchildren. Genevieve was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters. The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street), Troy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Randall Patterson at 9:15 a.m., on Wednesday, January 20, from Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy. Interment will take place later in the day at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, in the Gerald B.H. Solomon - Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville. Those who wish to attend the committal should arrive to the cemetery gate by 1:15 p.m. to join the cortege. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Van Rensselaer Manor, Section C-1, for their kind care and support.
