Obituary of Frank P. Marano, Jr.

Troy, NY- Frank P. Marano, Jr., 91, of Troy, passed into eternal rest on November 2, 2015. Born in Troy on January 24, 1924, he was the son of the late Frank P. Marano, Sr. and Philomeana (Nanrome) Marano. Frank attended Troy schools and resided here all of his life. He was a World War II veteran, serving his country in the Army from 1943 to 1945. He was attached to the 79th General Hospital in Belfast, Ireland and the European theater war. Frank was employed as a machinist for Rensselaer Valve and later as an environmental specialist at the student union at R.P.I., where he retired in July 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Waterford Knights of Columbus and also a member of the V.F.W. Post #2239 in Colonial Heights, Virginia. He attended St. Mary's Church in Waterford as well as St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh. Frank enjoyed working on his home and in the yard. His favorite pastimes include: playing cards with his buddies on Thursday nights, traveling to Virginia and Key West, Florida. Frank will be remembered as kind and gentle man who was willing to help everyone. Survived by his loving wife of 69 years Joan (Cassidy) Marano, his devoted daughter Patricia Marano, his beloved granddaughter Bree, his sister Helen Rogers of Tennessee, as well as many nieces and nephews and his "adopted" granddaughter Tiffany. Besides his parents, Frank was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and George Marano, and sisters; Sally Consula, Mary Carpenter and Elizabeth Hill. The Marano Family wishes to acknowledge Frank's aides Tionna, Susan and Jackie for their wonderful care. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, November 5th from 4-6 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Lansingburgh, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6th.
