Obituary of Napoleon A. "Nappy" Roullier, Jr.

Troy, NY- Napoleon A. "Nappy" Roullier, Jr., 85, of Troy, died peacefully early Wednesday morning September 16, 2015 after a long illness with his loving family at his side. Born in Troy on November 6, 1929, he was a son of the late Napoleon A. Roullier, Sr. and the late Carolyn (Haite) Roullier. He was predeceased by his wife, the late Sylvia L. Zwinge Bermas Roullier, she died on September 10, 2008. Nappy was educated in the Troy city school systems. From 1949-1953 he served in the U.S. Army Air For Resserves (U.S. Air Corps.) in Texas He worked for many years at the John J. Manning paper mill company in Green Island, finally retiring as a contractor with Vulcan Properties Management in Albany. Nappy enjoyed sports, including baseball, basketball and golf. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Nappy was very intelligent, so much in fact that he skipped the 5th grade as a young boy - which he loved to brag about. He was a handy man or fondly referred to as a "jack-of-all-trades", handling carpentry, electrical and plumbing issues. He could even work on cars. Survivors include his children: Christine Roullier, Susan (Thomas) Testo, Steven (Mary Ellen) Roullier, Danyelle (Matthew) Meyers and his former wife Eunice Roddy Roullier. Also survived by stepchildren: Tanya (Anthony) Nuvallie, Glenn (Jean) Bermas, Alicia (Jeffrey) Jahn, his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Joseph Kerwin, 13 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brother-in-laws also survive. Besides his parents and his wife, Nappy was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie (Roullier) Ryan and his sister and brother-in-law Betty and Eddie Spaulding. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, September 19th at Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, where a celebration of life service will be conducted 4pm that same afternoon.
