Obituary of Muriel Lorraine "Mert" Grzyboski

Muriel Lorraine Grzyboski, 94, formerly of Troy Towers, Troy NY was called home on Tuesday March 3rd 2015 at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy, with her loving family at her side. Born in Albany as Muriel Lorraine Young on January 21st 1921, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Young and Rose McGowan of Albany NY. Muriel (Mert) as she was known by her friends and family, was a lifelong resident of the Capital Region. Living for many years in Menands, Watervliet and Troy. After graduating high school, Muriel attended the college of Saint Rose until she met the man of her dreams. Muriel married Benjamin Grzyboski in 1939 and together they shared a life until his passing on February 13th 1963. Muriel worked for many years as a waitress throughout the region to raise her family on her own. In her later years Muriel became the assistant director of the CEO of Troy and retired from there. She was a Eucharist minister and parishioner of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church of Troy. Muriel faced the loss of many loved ones. Besides he husband, she is pre-deceased by her parents, Lloyd Young, and Rose McGowan and by her siblings, Virginia McCormick, Shirley Fake, Wanda Gimondo & Lloyd "Sonny" Young. Muriel is also pre-deceased by most of her in-laws. Survivors include her son Steven (Donna) of Boston, her daughters Kathy (Joe) Galietta of Arizona, Lorraine Miller of North Greenbush, and her youngest son Michael (Joan) of North Greenbush. She is also survived by 11 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren, and several Great-Great Grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Her only surviving siblings are her sister in-laws Clare Distal of Loudonville & Jane Bedouin of East Greenbush. Muriel was a beautiful soul who touched many lives & will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Rev. Anthony Ligato will officiate a memorial service at 11AM on Saturday April 11, 2015 at the Gardner Earl Chapel located at historic Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood Avenue in Troy, NY. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
