Obituary of Janet L. Vashrow

Janet L. Vashrow: Dedicated wife, loving mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Janet L. Vashrow of Troy, NY passed into God's hands on February 24, 2014, at the age of 84. Janet was a great example of faith, hope, wisdom and humor; always making those around her smile and laugh. Janet Vashrow was born on December 25, 1929 in Troy, NY to Emma Katherine Frazier and William Kilmer Frazier, she had 3 brothers and 1 sister. After attending school in Troy, NY she married her husband, the late Albert (Joe) J. Vashrow, also of Troy, NY. Together Janet and Albert (Joe) had two daughters; Janet (Wells) of Watervliet, NY and Lorraine L. (O'Brien) of Troy, NY. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Janet was also a dedicated employee of New York State. Janet worked at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY until retirement in 1994. Janet is survived by her daughter Janet (Wells) and her husband James Wells Sr. of Watervliet, NY and their children; Rebecca, Christopher, James, Wendy and Sarah, as well several great grandchildren. Janet is also survived by her daughter Lorraine (O'Brien) and her sons, Rory O'Brien and his wife, Lauren Guest-O'Brien of Troy, NY and Neil O'Brien, of Albany, NY. Funeral Services will commence Thursday February 27th, at 11AM from the Riverview Funeral Home, located at 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th St. in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12180. Interment will follow in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Janet will be reposing in the chapel of Riverview prior to the service and the family will be present to receive relatives and friends beginning at 10AM.
