Obituary of Nancy Maria Holt

Nancy Maria (Ryerson) Holt, 83, of 552 North Lake Ave, Brunswick passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 20, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Samaritan Hospital after a short illness. Nancy was a devoted loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She was born on May 2, 1930 in Fort Ann to Abraham and Hermie (Wilson) Ryerson. Nancy attended a one room school in South Bay, N.Y. She went on to become a LPN and worked as a devoted nurse for over 30 years. She later attended Adirondack Community College and Atlantic Union College, where she graduated with a BS in Personal Ministries at the age of 62. She then worked as a Bible Worker for several years before she retired. Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Abraham and Hermie (Wilson) Ryerson, infant daughter, Wendy Ellen, three brothers, Marion Lawrence Ryerson, Wesley Abraham Ryerson, and William Frederick Ryerson Sr., and two sisters, Vivian Anna Walker and Pauline Violet Gascay. She is survived by two sons, Robert F. Holt, Jr. of Saratoga Springs, NY and William T. Holt and his wife Susan of Fletcher, NC, two daughters, Bonnie Ellen Edison and her husband Lawrence of Brunswick, NY and Becky Jean Roz of Lake George, NY, two sisters Mae Ernistine Ponte of Marianna, FL and Nancy Bidwell of Fairbanks, AL, six grandchildren, Nathan Edison, Sarah (Edison) Kay and her husband Luis, Elizabeth Roz, Jeremy Holt, Caleb Holt, William Holt, former husband Robert F. Holt, Sr., and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was very strong and independent, totally devoted to God, family and wanting to help others. She had a contagious smile and sense of humor and everyone loved her. She loved her books, writing, painting, dogs, and having her family sing to her. These last nine years she courageously battled dementia, amazing everyone with her resilience, sweetness, and faith. She was a member of the Greater Albany Seventh-day Adventist Church. There will be a memorial service in her honor at the Saratoga Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church, 399 Union Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY on Sunday, March 2, at 1:00 PM. The family would like to send a special thank you to the Samaritan Hospital doctors and nursing staff for the excellent care that they gave her.
