Obituary of Christopher John LaFortune

LANSINGBURGH –

Christopher John LaFortune, 64, of Lansingburgh, passed away on March 1, 2024 following a long illness.

The son of Thomas Eugene LaFortune and the late Leona Louise (Piniaha) LaFortune, Christopher was born on July 26, 1959 in Troy. He was a lifelong resident of Lansingburgh and was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School (class of 1977).

Mr. LaFortune held many jobs throughout his adult life. In his younger years he was employed at Portec Steel Mill alongside his father, brothers and uncle Jack. For a time he worked for the Vanilla Bean Co. and lastly retired as a clerk in the Comptroller’s office with the State of New York.

An avid sports fan, Christopher’s favorite teams were: the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Miami Dolphins. Anyone who remembers Chris will warmly recall his love of the Three Stooges, M&Ms and fantasy football. He will be sorely missed.

In addition to his father, Thomas, Chris leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Mark LaFortune, Cheryl A. Abbott (Richard), Michael LaFortune and Gregory LaFortune. An abundance of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Christopher was predeceased by his loving mother, Leona on January 17, 1990, a wound that never fully healed. We take comfort in knowing he now joins her in the Kingdom of Heaven.
