Obituary of Marion R. Houser

TROY- Marion R. Houser, 81, of Troy, passed away on October 9, 2021 after battling a long illness. Born in Troy on September 25, 1940 she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Marion (Kennedy) Swart. Marion was a life long resident of Troy and was a graduate of the Troy School District. She began a career with the Montgomery Ward Company in her early twenties but soon traded in her own goals for motherhood. Marion was a devoted wife and mother who always put family first. She enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters while growing up and as time passed their families as well. Marion supported her son in all his activities whether it was joining the school PTA, cheering from the bleachers during little league or pop warner games or sitting together watching restoration shows telling him of all the cars she and his father should have held onto. Marion showed the same enthusiasm and love for her grandchildren Alicia, Nicholas and Tiffany and great grandchildren Elliana, Dominick, David, Nicolette and Abigail. Marion was predeceased by her husband Frederick, whom she married in St. Lawrence's Church in Troy on July 2, 1960; her brothers Alfred, Edward (Kathleen) and Raymond (Mary); her sisters Barbara (Charles Duncan), Patricia (Peter Fulgan), and Alice (Kevin Miles). Marion is survived by her son Frederick E. Houser (Tracy) of Pittstown, and her brother in law Edward John Houser (the late Pat) of Troy. The Funeral Service will begin at 1 o'clock Friday, October 15th from the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Troy, thence to St. Joseph's Church, located at the corner of Jackson & Third Streets in Troy for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:30pm. Relatives and friends are invited to and may also call from 11am until 1pm at the funeral home. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery in South Troy.
