Obituary of Carol Ann Contino

TROY- Carol Ann Contino, 77, of Troy, passed away at home Sunday, March 28, 2021, after a long illness. She was born in Troy N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Legrand C. Wattendorf and Rosemary E. Wattendorf (Polaro). Loving wife of Anthony J. Contino; Sister of Legrand C. Wattendorf (Wendy), and the late Robert E. Wattendorf; mother of Lisa M. Smith (Matthew), Richard J. Valenti (Sandra), Angelo P. Contino (Tracy), Tina M. Wilcox (Charles), Patience J. Contino (Eric); Also survived by 19 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She enjoyed cooking for the family, she loved her Italian/German heritage, but her most famous dishes loved by all were her Italian recipes; Italian pasta sauce, Meatballs, Lasagna, Goulash and Pasta e Fagioli. You would never leave her house hungry. Her cooking will be missed by all. If you wanted an honest opinion, you could always count on her to be truthful and transparent, regardless of your feelings, like a strong Italian mother would. We have so many fond memories, some of our favorite comical memories of her were when she would try to toughen up the kids by early morning boxing matches in the kitchen (Mom would say put em up. Put em up.I am going to teach you how to fight!). She also had many unique skills; she was like Clint Eastwood with her shoes; she could take anyone out at any distance with her shoes. Another skill was shopping. She could always be found with QVC blaring in the background whenever you entered her home and any gift received for family and friends would come fully wrapped in a QVC cardboard box! She was also well known and loved as a dancer and was a constant image on the dance floor of weddings, family parties and any other gatherings where she could display her dancing skills to all those that would watch. She was the life of the party. She was stubborn and a fighter like her German father, fought hard until her very last breath on earth. Her love for family is what kept her fighting as long as possible to beat her illness. She was one of a kind and will forever live in our hearts , she will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
