We were neighbors for years and always enjoyed Amy's company. Our thoughts and prayers are with Amy and her friends/family during this time. She will now be reunited with Larry!

This post is dedicated to my oldest friend, Amy Beth Edwards. Yes, Amy’s middle name was Beth! Amy and I became friends when we lived three doors away from each other on Fiifth Avenue near Iacocca‘s corner store. We were three years old and became fast friends! Amy and I would play on our back porch and in our backyards. I had a swingset and she had a lot of toys in the toy chest. When it came time to start kindergarten, Amy was the independent one who would come and pick me up every morning and we would walk to school together. If Amy got sick, I did not want to go to school without her. In first grade, they decided that I was too dependent on her, so they separated us into different classes. I was caught leaving my class on a few occasions because I would and go see Amy! Of course I got in trouble and Amy told me I should go back to my classroom. She was much more of the rule follower than I was. They would call me Lucy and her Ethel because I would always have crazy ideas and she would follow along and then we would both get in trouble...shocking I know! We spent a lot of time on our front porches roller skating down the sidewalk and the gangways that separated the buildings. We would take our pennies down and buy penny candy from Iacocca’s corner store. The Iacocca’s came straight from Italy and there were two brothers. The tall brother had a little wife and a little brother had a tall wife. They would always have the most delicious smells coming from their windows, as the women would make red sauce and meatballs. Amy and I would stand outside their window and they would hand out steaming bowls of sauce with meatballs! I loved those two ladies from Italy and I love Amy! Amy‘s mom and dad built a house in Speigletown and I would go up with her to see it while it was being built. I did not want her to move away from me. A few years after she moved to the burbs, my parents also bought a house in Speigletown, so we got to be closer again! Amy was with me when I rode my bicycle down the road from the Hilltop Bowling Alley and flew off and fractured my skull! It was a very scary time for all of us! Amy was kind enough to come and pick me up once she had a car and learned how to drive. She had a yellow Mustang which was the coolest car that any of us owned. Amy was the kindest person and never had a mean thing to say about anyone. Amy and Julie made the trek across the country to be in my wedding. It was a memorable experience for both of them as their plane was delayed and their ride to Vail was delayed and they ended up at a dark bus stop with Amy carrying Julie bags because she was having a meltdown! We have a lot of laughs about their effort to be with me and I will never forget how wonderful it was to have my friends with me on my special day! Amy met her lifelong partner,Larry, when she was 17 and spent her entire life with him until he passed a couple years ago. She missed him very much. Her mother passed from Alzheimer’s about a year ago and Amy also missed her mother. If what they say is true...that when you pass, you are met by people you helped along the way, and by people you loved, then I’m sure there was a large crowd waiting for Amy. We will miss her terribly here on earth, but I’m so glad that I have all these pictures that will help me remember all the good times. My life would have been so different without you, Amy. I love you and miss you already! Till we meet again dear friend.
