Obituary of Diane Lewis Cottrell

Diane Lewis Cottrell, 55, of Hoosick Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Troy, New York on February 28, 1962, Diane was the daughter of Raymond and Lynn (Horan) Lewis of East Greenbush. Diane was a 1981 graduate of Tamarac High School, and earned her Associates Degree in Accounting from Russell Sage College. She was employed by The Golub Corporation, having just celebrated her 15 year anniversary in the accounting department. Diane was an active member of the Hoosick Falls Aeries Eagles #2467, having served as President for three years, as well as holding other positions during her many years with the Eagles. She was an advocate for cancer research, and traveled to Washington, D.C. for several years to attend the national conference in the search for a cure. Diane was a devoted Nascar fan and traveled to many races! She loved county fairs and horse shows, traveling to each and every one to show her unconditional love and support of both her first niece and her nieces horse, Codys Secret Affair! She loved camping as a child at the family seasonal camp in Minerva Lake, and in later years in Bolton Landing with her boyfriend of many years, Steve Lemon (Hoosick Falls). In addition to her parents, Diane is survived by her brother, David (Brenda) Lewis, and sisters, Maria (Phillip) Mayhew, Linda (Paul) DeDominicis, and Christine Lewis Gauthier. She was also the loving, devoted and generous aunt to Daniel and Jacob Lewis, Stacy and Keith Mayhew, Cassandra and Victoria DeDominicis, Laura Lewis, and Amber and Kyle Gauthier, as well as great aunt to Aurin Pierce and Alexis Mayhew. Diane was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, girlfriend, cousin, niece, co-worker, friend and truly an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her kind heart and generous soul, her spirit as she continued to fight her long and courageous battle with cancer, and her positive never-give-up attitude will forever live in the hearts of everyone whose lives she touched. She will be forever missed, an angel taken too soon.
