Phil was one of the sweetest boys growing up in our neighborhood. (He on Middleburgh and me on 10th Street.
We attended school #2, then #1 and then THS.
We connected over the years, having friends in common.
Phil loved my mom, who he always respectfully called Mrs. DeBell, and he always asked about her whenever we ran into each other.
The last few years of his life, whenever I would see him, Phil seemed to carry a sadness in his eyes that even his beautiful smile couldn't disguise, but he never had a bad word about anything or anyone.
I hope that you are still smiling Phil, and that you have only happy days now.

To Phil & the Turner family I am so sorry for the passing of Phil. What an awesome guy, basketball player and friend. Phil was one of the neighborhoods older guys that never picked on the younger kids. Whenever I saw Phil the first thing he would say to me, Walter how is your Mother doing? He missed a shot on a spinning layup under the hoop, the basket closest to 10th Street side of the court on the School 2 basketball court but the fact that he was able to get the shot off and get it any where near the rim was unbelievable. Maybe just a little more english and it goes in. I can still see his smile, hear his laugh and him look at me as I looked at him in awe! Sorry this took so long Phil.
