Obituary of Dessie M. "Madea" Everett

Sunrise ~ October 24, 1930 Sunset ~ August 1, 2015 Albany, NY- Mrs. Dessie M. Everett, daughter of the late George Evans and Everleane Thomas was born on October 24, 1930 in Hiwannee, Wayne County, Mississippi. She made her home in Albany, New York and departed this life on earth on August 1st, 2015 at the blessed age of 84 years old. Preceded in death by her stepfather Lewis Wright, two sisters Earlean Jones and Mary Lois Wright. She leaves to cherish her memory: six children: Eddie Miles, Irma Wooten, Lucille Gilmore, Frances Pedew, Mary Gauseall of Albany, NY and Thomas Miles, Waynesboro, Mississippi. In addition to her children, Mrs. Everett is also survived by a goddaughter, Geraldine Miles of Albany, two siblings: Lois Robertson and Alex Evans, both of Waynesboro, Mississippi, two son-in-laws: Leonard Wooten and Thomas Gilmore, two daughter-in-laws: Janice Miles and Juanita Miles. Mrs. Everett leaves 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews along with many other family members and dear friends. The Everett family would like to acknowledge everyone who has called and shared expressions of sympathy and acts of kindness during our time of sorrows may God bless you each and everyone of you. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY from 10am-11am on Saturday morning, August 8th. Celebration of Dessie's life with a Home Going service will commence at 11am in the chapel of the funeral home.
