Obituary of Alice V. Miles

TROY- Alice V. (Swart) Miles, 63, of Troy, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning, February 12, 2015, surrounded by her loving family following a long illness. Born in Troy on April 4, 1951, Alice was a daughter of the late Alfred W. Swart and Marion V. (Kennedy) Swart. She was a lifelong resident of Troy, educated locally and a graduate of Troy High School. For over 30 years Alice was employed in health care as a certified CNA. She was last employed at Evergreen Commons. Alice was a genuinely loving and caring person who shared her love and kindness beyond her own family but also to her community. Her caring nature touched the lives of her children's friends and other children in the neighborhood. To them she was a figure of respect and everyone looked up to her as a mother. Alice's family was her utmost priority. She will be warmly remembered as a beloved wife to her husband, loving mother to her children and adored "Nanny" by her cherished grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Kevin A. Miles, Sr., whom she married in St. Lawrence's Church in South Troy on April 12, 1970; her children, Bridget A. (Kevin) Domey, Kevin A. Miles, Jr. (Sandra Ortiz), Duane W. Miles (Nicole Rigney), Alice B. (Anthony) Huff, all of Troy, her grandchildren, Shelby Miles, Kevin Domey, Jr., Duane W. Miles, Jr., Dylan Winston, Makayle Huff, Devan Miles, Cody Domey, Mckenzie Huff, Hailey Miles, Brittany Domey, Anthony Huff, Jr., Xavier Miles and Jase Huff. Alice is also survived by her siblings, Marion (Fred) Houser, of Troy, Patricia (Peter) Fulgan, of Green Island and Raymond (Mary) Swart, of Troy, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her sister Barbara A. Duncan and her brother Edward Swart. The funeral service will commence at 8AM on Monday, February 16th from the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Lansingburgh, followed by a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial, at the Church of St. Augustine, in Lansinburgh. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Waterford. Alice will be reposing in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home on Sunday February 15th. The Family will be present to receive relatives and friends in the afternoon from 2PM until 5PM.
