Obituary of Mary A. Gilbert

Mary A. Gilbert, 78, of 118 4th Street, Troy, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Albany Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Mary was born on September 19, 1936, in Tannersville to Charles Teetsel and the former Florence Powell. After attending local schools she moved to Troy, where she married her husband of 44 years, Jacob G. Gilbert, in 1961. Mary worked in local laundries, most recently at the Dandy Laundry in Troy until her retirement. She remained a devoted mother and homemaker until her final illness. Mary's survivors include her sons, Jacob C. Gilbert and Kevin Gilbert of Troy; siblings Virginia Bannon of Loveland CO., Raymond Teetsel of Grand Junction CO., James Teetsel of Novana TX, and Caroline Knoth of Leeds NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, who passed away in 2006, and by her siblings Robert and Anna Teetsel of Tannersville, Charles Teetsel of Ohio and Richard Teetsel of Texas. Mary's family will receive relatives and friends from 10 AM until 12 Noon on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 Second Avenue (corner of 104th Street) in Lansingburgh, where funeral services will commence at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in historic Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
