I have had a few things going on and rather posting this year's note here I have been doing some praying to see if you want to intercede on my behalf as I have some health issues. It is not lost on me that I will be 74 in January the same age you were when you joined our Savior into eternal life. My prayers were only to see if I could maybe see a few more years as I have some unfinished business with the kids. It is Kidney cancer this time and the talk now is chemo so that is what I have to look forward to after the 10 surgeries to treat. No complaints here. I have a great doctor and as we always said it is not death, we feared but the process of dying. I feel I am cheating Cheryl out of the possibility of some good years, but I know it is not my call. I will do what I can. Thinking I would go first I figured I would have you around for support so make sure you do what you can from there. Miss you, many, many of us do. Happy belated birthday Michael and May You Rest in Peace. Love, Tom

Another year Michael. Wish you were to see the kids and grandchildren. Some day when we all meet again. As I get older, I think of you more and more and how we talked about the aging process neither believing we would even see 70. You did, I did and now you are enjoying the eternity we always knew was waiting for us. I cannot speak for anyone else with certainty., but you were the biggest positive influence in my life, and I know I would not have seen 72 without your support, love and guidance. You are missed and I feel your presence in my life every day. May you rest in peace knowing you had such a strong and positive influence on thousands of people. " Until we meet again" Michael, may the Good Lord hold you in the palm of his hand. Please say hello to Howie for me.

Michael and readers . We celebrate your earthly 83rd birthday with tremendous gratitude for all you accomplished while serving God here. It is an understatement to say your missed. Our relationship spanned 5 decades and much was shared. I often wonder if I helped you as much as you helped me. You were human and faced challenges and I was there for most of them. I know your heavenly reward is even more than your were taught it would and more than even you hoped it would be. There is certainly void in many lives since your passing but I know you are watching over us and I for one continue to appreciate your positive intervention as this life winds up for me. Thank you for you love and support over all of the years we shared together. Tell your mom that I have to spread the requests around so that's why I pray to her sometimes. "Until we meet again " Love, Tom

Michael, 6 years of life now gone since we last spoke in person and less than 24 hours since I prayed for you ,your mother and so many of my own family members. I pray that the heavenly kingdom we talked so much about allows you the understanding that life on earth was merely a brief stop on the way to glorious eternity. This year I believe our Good Lord is challenging us with this pandemic as we all struggle to find our way back to the things that truly matter. The virus is allowing us to realize that family and caring for others should be the priorities in this life. I want to once again thank you for the many sacrifices you made throughout your life to help me and a ton of others. I am certain your reward now confirms all that you shared while here along side all of us. You are missed for sure by all who loved you and keep a watchful on all so we can "meet again "in God's care.

Time passes but the memories are with you forever. As you continue to enjoy your heavenly reward please remember your influence on so many people 's lives on earth.Your contribution to all the lives you touched with kindness , support and spiritual guidance will be alive for years to come. Thank you for all you did for me personally. Having had a tiny part in your decision to open Hospitality House and encouraging you to stay in the role of a "street priest " offers me comfort because I knew as the "first kid" you would impact young lives for many years and that is exactly what you did. On the anniversary of your passing I just wanted to thank you again. Keep watching over all of us who loved you. Rest in Peace Hogan and until we meet again may the Good Lord hold you in the palm of his hand. Peace .

There is always something drawing me back to make sure in this season (your passing and your birthday) that I come back and leave a message. It may be fours years since your passing but that feels like only yesterday because of the strong bond we had for so many years. When I look back at my postings here I did say that your biggest contribution to my life and I am sure so many others is the fact you did what you did for anyone with absolutely no expectations. You planted the seed and hoped God would intervene and help provide the help guidance the person needed. There has never been anyone I have ever known who was as humble as you were in those crisis moments you dealt with so often in your life Because of our faith I know you are with our heavenly father still working on those you were so close to you during your earthly stay. When my time comes, and the years are flying by and good health is now just a memory I expect you to greet me after I have been reunited with my family. I pray you will continue to watch over me and guide me for whatever time I have left. My message to any of your extended family and your wonderful "Hogan " family please remember that this Hogan represented you very well and helped anyone in need. To your extended family do not ever forget this man who saved the lives of many . Michael, REST IN PEACE , my dear friend , until we meet again. Love , RIP Tom

Happy Birthday Michael. Three years seems like three hours. I know our heavenly father continues to reward you for your selfless commitment on behalf of others every day of your earthly life. I am sure there are hundreds of us that miss your wisdom and support but look forward to that day where WE MEET AGAIN. May you RIP and enjoy God's grace as you watch over all of us who to continue to struggle to follow your example .... Love From Cheryl too . Tom

As your birthday approaches and the anniversary of your passing so recent, I wanted to let anyone reading these after two years know that you are truly missed. A relationship of 50 years ..never ends. It is just different. Now you are in my heart but also still in my life as I pray for your intervention often. You are still offering support and guidance I know you are .. During our life together here we talked about that, depending who would be the first join our Heavenly Father we would share an eternal life as well.. As the very "first " kid you pulled out of the darkness of a very troubled life nearly 50 years ago and offered hope I know I would have never had the privilege of a blessed life if it was not for your intervention many times.... Your statement to me that " Your life is better when you put others first without any expectations " was so true. It brings peace ..so thank you one more time.. Happy Birthday Michael (15th) and until we meet again .. May God hold you in the palm His Hand ...

Dear family of Father Hogan, I am sorry for your great loss and sorry for this community's loss. He was a lover of all people, his face and friendly smile reflected his interest in your thoughts and life. He was not a pacifier of people, had no standard answers but really listened to you. If he disagreed with you, you were not overpowered by his opinion and you were left free! We were blessed by his presence in our lives. Kay Skelly

I feel terrible that I am unable to show my respects to his family in person. My mother was Marion Jarvis Trombley. She was Michael's godmother and Michael was my brother James godfather. He performed many masses for my family on special occasions including my grandmother's 85th birthday, my marriage and the baptism of one of my daughter's. I have wonderful memories of his visits to our house and many wonderful afternoons at his mother's house. She was as welcoming and gracious as he was. I also was a student at St Rose while he was teaching there and visited him at Hospitality House. He was the epitome of what a Catholic priest should be and he will be greatly missed.

I have never meet Rev Hogan. My son Patrick went to the Hospitality House he started. I just wanted to say thanks to people like Rev Hogan & to the Holy Spirit for guiding Rev Hogan to do what he loved so that our children have a place to go instead of jail for help. Alcoholism runs deep in our families. Some of us are able to rise above it only with the help of Gods Grace and prayers. Thank You for all you have done. Colleen

Michael Hogan, a dear friend and a wonderful person. We first met Michael at St. Gabriel's parish in Rotterdam and thus began a long friendship. From canoeing on the Fulton chain, which turned out be a disaster because of all the rain, to dinner and the 4th of July at Elm St. We always enjoyed your company and you will be missed by all who knew you.

Fr Mike was a paradigm of humble and Christlike pastoring in a diocese suffering from the chronic affliction of liberalism, the bereavement of lost and merged parishes, the social problems of abuse, addiction, loneliness, and neglect. Mike stood out as a bright star against a dark firmament, and played a monumental role in his community by restablishing a sensitivity to social, ecclesial and existential crises not paralleled in the history of this region nor in the history of the Church itself. Fr Michael would serve as a paradigm for most, if not all who claim unity, whether in the context of interfaith dialogue, ecumenism, or in college of pastoral and spiritual care providers, but expecially for those who occupy the radically important and influential post as a community pastor. Michael, The Lord bless you and keep you +, Show His face to you and have mercy on you +. May He turn his countenance to you and give you peace + The Lord bless you, Michael. Ch. Harold

To the Hogan Family and his extended family I offer my deepest sympathy. Michael where are you when I need the right words ? I could write a book on this relationship of ours that spanned 49 years but I just want to say as the "first kid" thank you for saving my life multiple times. Thank you for taking me in to "454" an adding purpose to otherwise troubled life. Thank you for listening to your heart and to God and fighting the good fight, under next to impossible circumstances and opening Hospitality House, giving yet another family member and many others, a place to sort out his life. You gave , not just to me but to everyone and asked for nothing in return. I know you will now be able to enjoy the reward you so deserve with our Heavenly Father. I know of many who are welcoming you with open arms.. REST in PEACE MICHAEL my mentor and dear friend and " UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN ...MY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND".
