Obituary of Ada Ruth Spottswood

ALBANY Ada Ruth Spottswood, 89, of Albany, formerly of New Jersey died peacefully on Friday July 12, 2013 at the Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Ada was born on October 24, 1923 to the late John B. and Nettie Cobell Williams in Unionville, VA. Ada obtained her formal education from the Unionville Public School System. She was a member at the Holy Trinity Church in Wolftown, VA. Ada enjoyed her profession as a cook in a restaurant in New Jersey; she made the best fried chicken. Ada was a devout Christian woman and she enjoyed reading her Bible. She loved crocheting and was also an avid gardener, tending to flowers and vegetables. Ada cared for her mother and father-in-law until their deaths. Ada was united in marriage to Harold Spottswood in Newark, NJ during the summer of 1949. Survivors include her children; David Williams, Barbara Bryam and JoAnn (Terry) Coles and their three daughters. Ada is survived by her sisters; Cora Box, Mary Williams, Rosa Mae Ruffner. Ada was predeceased in the death by her husband Harold, her son, Leroy Williams, brothers; Walter and John Herman and sisters Ollie and Marlena. Funeral Services will commence at 2PM on Saturday July 20, in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc. 218 2nd Ave. (corner of 104th St) Troy, NY 12180, the Rev. Dr. Macklin will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to a prior calling hour beginning at 1PM at the funeral home.
