Obituary of Alan J. Friedel

Troy Alan J. Friedel, 76, of Gurley Avenue, passed away on Friday, May 24th at Rosewood Gardens Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility after a long illness. Born in Cohoes, NY to the late Herman and Edith Friedel, Alan was a Cohoes resident for most of his life moving to Troy in 1988. Alan was employed as a truck driver for various local trucking companies until his retirement in 2002. Alan proudly served in the US Army and also drove truck while serving in Korea. Alan was a hard worker and always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help. He was a wise man; his advice was treasured by those seeking his counsel. As past times, he enjoyed wrestling, game shows playing cards and doing word searches. He also loved to cook, pizza and lasagna were a couple of his favorite dishes. Alan is survived by his wife of 24 years, Claudia Carol Coalts Friedel whom he married on September 16, 1989, his children: Alan J. Friedel, II of Averill Park, Rosemarie Ann Adams of Mohawk, NY, Gary Richard Lane, II of Troy, NY, and Elizabeth Ann Brundige of Troy, NY., siblings: Madeline Godfrey, Constance Steenrod, Janice Potter and Stewart Friedel, grandchildren: Danielle Adams, Nicholas Waffle and arriving in October, Landon Anthony Friedel.Several nieces and nephews also survive him. Besides his parents, his daughter Marie Irene Lane and siblings Lois Niland and Earle Friedel predeceased Alan. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 31st at 1 PM from the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc. 218 2nd Avenue at 104th Street, Troy, NY 12180. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Riverview Funeral Home on Friday, 1 hour prior to the service, beginning at 12 Noon. Interment with full military honors will be conducted at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
