Obituary of Edith M. Vinson

Troy, NY Edith M. Vinson, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Van Rensselaer Manor surrounded by her family. Edith was born in Troy to the late Millard and Hazel Coonradt Osgood. She was raised in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School. Edith lived in Brunswick before moving to Castleton where she resided for 20 years. Edith was employed as a nurse's aide for the Ann Lee Home in Colonie for 20 years retiring in 1982. She was a member of the Clearview Alliance Church in Schodack, the Home Bureau and the Troy Christian Women's Club. Edith also found time to volunteer at the Nassau Senior Center. She was an avid reader; even after becoming blind her family would continue to read to her. She was a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother; her grandchildren were very special to her. Edith also loved to sing especially hymns and would sing often with her twin brothers. Edith was predeceased by her husbands: Henry Canam, Clarence Swaney and Daniel Vinson. She is survived by her children: Edith "Edie" (James) Moore of Schodack, Merl (Linda) Canam of Wynantskill, her grandchildren: James Moore, Jr., Kimberly Davidson, Shaun Moore, Aaron Moore, Michelle Eaton, Brian Canam, Michael Carey, Jennifer Norman and Danielle Longton, 17 great grandchildren as well as her brother, Harold Osgood of Watervliet. Besides her husbands, Edith was predeceased by her daughter Donna Carey, her siblings: Howard Osgood, Eileen Sousie, Bud Osgood and granddaughter Becky Carey. Funeral Thursday morning at 11 o'clock from the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc. 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180, with Pastor Nick Becker of the Clearview Alliance Church officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Riverview Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM. Her interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy, NY.
