Obituary of John W. Creagan
Brunswick, NY
John W. Creagan, 88, of Spring Avenue Extension, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at his home after a long illness.
Born in Troy to the late John and Eva Vallee Creagan, he was a lifelong area resident and graduate of the LaSalle Institute.
John served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946.
He was employed by the New York State Police for 25 years serving as an Investigator with the State Police BCI Division for 15 of those years.
John was a past member of the Troy Country Club, the Troy and Brunswick Elks as well as past President of the Wynantskill Kiwanis.
John was an avid golfer, fisherman and poker player.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carole E. Chamberlain. John and Carole were married at St. Patrick's Church in Troy, NY.
John was the uncle of Wendy (Chester) DeBell of Wynantskill and Leo (Sue) Creagan of Spiegletown.
He was great uncle of Casey J.J. DeBell of Wynantskill.
He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral Monday morning at 11 o'clock from the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180 with the Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor of St. Jude's Church, Wynantskill, officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Riverview Funeral Home on Monday morning from 9 to 11 am prior to the service.
Interment immediately following in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, NY.
