Obituary of Joan Shear

Joan Shear, "Joni", 55 years old, passed away after a courageous 14-month battle with lung cancer at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital. She was born in Brooklyn on November 20, 1956 the daughter of Joseph and Vikki Demase. She attended Brentwood High School on Long Island, and resided in the Selkirk area since 1975. She is survived by her mother Vikki Demase (Tom McGeough), her soul mate Bill Williams, daughters Jennifer Moore (Will) and Lauren Shear (Chris Peterson), son William Shear (Jennifer Haas), and her cherished grandchildren Savannah and Taylor Huntsman, Makenzie and Addison Moore, and Jessica and Cayden Peterson, her sister Judy Eisgruber (Rupert), and her nieces Tiffany Eisgruber and Stephanie Lane (Tyler and Jordan), and nephew Michael Eisgruber and her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Joseph Demase. Joni was known for her annual Halloween parties and making everyone laugh (and scream sometimes!). Joni loved her family and friends, music, her gardens, the Giants and going shopping! A celebration of her life will be held at Joni's home in Selkirk, on November 24, 2012 starting at 3PM. All of her family and friends are welcome. A memorial service will take place at her mothers' home in the spring. Date to be announced.
