Obituary of Rollin A. Greene

Troy, NY Rollin A. "Butch" Greene, 65 of 10th Street, Troy, NY, passed away on Friday evening, Nov. 2nd, at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness. Born in Troy, NY to the late Harry Greene and Jeanie Robinson Greene Catalfu. Butch was a lifelong city resident. He was a graduate of Troy High and a Firefighter for the City of Troy for 25 years, retiring in 1998. He was a proud US Army Veteran serving from 1965 to 1971 and fought for his country in Vietnam. He was a member of Veterans of Lansingburgh, Inc., American Legion Post 1489 in Wynantskill and Commander of the CRAB Garrison 1954. Rollin's "true love" was driving the Rescue Squad for the City of Troy's Fire Department for the many years that he served. He is survived by his best friend and life partner, Tracy A. Murray; children: Michael T. Greene (Rhonda) of Holly Springs, NC, James S. Greene (Lorrie) of Willow Springs, NC, Joseph R. Greene (Nena) of Saratoga Springs, NY; siblings: Rose Sias, Elizabeth Joy (Tom), Pam Checca, Cindy Carabis (Tim), Patti Coghill (Dave), Joanne McMahon (Tim) and Jodi Waters (Joe). He was the proud grandfather of 6. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Tuesday evening, Nov. 6th, at 7 o'clock from the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc., 218 2nd Street Troy, NY 12180 (corner of 104th Street), the Rev. David J. Jones, MM officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Riverview Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. Interment, with full military honors, will take place on Wednesday morning, November 7th at 10o'clock at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend may join in procession from the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue, promptly at 9 o'clock.
