Obituary of Michael E. Tolive

Michael E Tolive, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday October 5, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peters Hospital in Albany. Michael was born in Mamaroneck NY on August 22, 1923. He was the devoted and loving father of Marcia Tolive of Albany, and adoring grandfather of Sarah Wall of Plattsburgh, NY, and Amanda Wall of NY, NY. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews who were so special to him. He graduated from FE Bellows High School and served in the Air Force in the Pacific in 1944-45. He lived in Mamaroneck NY most of his life, where he was a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed his family and many friends and neighbors, was an avid golfer, and an active member of St. Vito's and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Churches. Upon retirement he and his loving wife Martha Rush Tolive, who passed in 2007, moved to Boynton Beach Florida, where they resided for 20 years. He was the long time president of Chanticlair Villas and organizer of recreational activities there. He has been a resident of Atria Shaker Assisted Living in Albany NY since 2007, where he has enjoyed many friendships and social activities with the residents and staff, and shared a special loving friendship with Nancy Young. He was always happiest when lending a helping hand, giving back to his community, and finding ways to make others feel special and cared for.
