Obituary of Norine M. Murray

Troy, NY Norine M. Murray, 89 of 16 Orr Street, Troy, NY, died on Friday afternoon, June 15th at Samaritan Hospital, Troy, after a lengthy illness. Norine was born in Troy to the late Francis A. and Mary M. Nolan Murray and has been a lifelong city resident. She attended St. Patrick's Elementary School and graduated from Troy High, Class of 1940. She also attended RPI where she took courses in Personnel Management. Norine was employed for the better part of her career at Grand Union Northeast Division in Waterford, NY, where she served as a Public Relations Director, retiring from that position in 1986. She was also a representative of the Retail Grocers Association to the Vermont State Legislature. Norine was very active in her community and her Parish of St. Patrick's in Troy where she had been a communicant for all of her life. She served as the parish's Public Relations Director, as well as Founder and Director of St. Patrick's Food Pantry and was the original Director of the St. Patrick's Day celebration at the parish. Norine was a lifetime member of the AOH a member of the Board of the Regional Food Bank as well as being a member of the Troy Chamber of Commerce. Norine "Aunt Nor", took great pride and joy in her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews. She loved to travel and was a frequent visitor to Ireland. Norine is survived by 8 siblings: John T. (Diane) Murray of Ridgecrest, CA, Francis J. Murray of Troy, M. Bernadette Gettings of Latham, Paul E. (Barbara) Murray of Mechanicville, Donald E. Murray of Troy, Joanne E. (Al) Caron of Troy, Rosemary Lattof of Latham and James V. Murray of Troy. Besides her parents she was also pre-deceased by her brothers: Gavin M. Murray and Robert W. Murray and brothers-in-law William P. Gettings and Theodore N. Latoff. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and great nephews. Funeral Wednesday morning at 8:45 from the Riverview Funeral Home, Inc., 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY and at 9:30 o'clock from St. Augustine's Church, 25 115th Street, Lansingburgh where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call at the Riverview Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 pm. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy.
