Obituary of Robert J. Tice
Rev. Robert J. Tice born November 12, 1927, died peacefully in his sleep Monday March 12, 2012 at Baptist Health in Scotia.
He was born in Mount Carmel Pa. the fifth child to Joseph and Sarah (Zimmerman) Tice.
A memorial service will be held at the Niskayuna Wesleyan Church 935 Balltown Road, Niskayuna New York, 11:00 a.m. Saturday March 17, 2012.
Long-time colleague in the ministry Rev. Donald Klob will be officiating.
The church will provide a dinner following the service.
Memorial donations can be made to the Niskayuna Wesleyan Church.
Bob graduated from Hegins township High School in 1945 and enlisted in the Navy serving until 1952, making him a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
In 1952 he worked for Republic
Aviation in Farmingdale Long Island.
In 1953 he worked at Way Lite in Bethlehem PA.
In 1954 he enrolled in Eastern Pilgrim College in Allentown PA.
On September 29, 1956 he married Lois Thornton, and then graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Theology (Th. B).
In June 1957 he began his pastoral career in the Pilgrim Holiness church (later the Wesleyan Church).
During his career as a pastor, "Pastor Tice" served in 14 churches in five states.
Though he officially retired in 1994 he continued to minister and preach in churches until 2010.
In addition to pastoral service, Bob spent many years as a substitute teacher, baseball coach, and chaplain.
Rev. Tice was preceded by his wife Lois, two brothers; Wilbert and Edward, and a sister Kathyrn.
He is survived by four daughters, Phyllis Yelder (Cedrick) of Louisville, KY; Susan Bozak (Glenn) of Niskayuna, NY; Joy Cole of Massena, NY; Pamela Jaindl of Columbia, SC; two sisters Mae Kaseman of New Bern, NC; and Pauline Holshue of Ellicott City, MD; several grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
The family would like to thank the Albany Stratton VA hospital doctors, nurses and staff; Emeritus at Colonie Manor in Latham assisted living; and Baptist Health in Scotia for their dedicated service and care given to Pastor Tice over the past several months.
