Obituary of J. Gregory MacMillen
J. Gregory Mac Millen, 83, of 3 Knapp Terrace, Colonie, eldest son of the late Irvin A. and Marjorie Babbit Mac Millen of Central Bridge and Albany died October 19, 2011 at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
He was a graduate of Cobleskill High School and served in the US Army in Germany during the Korean conflict.
He was an M-45 Howitzer Tank Driver. Soon after his return to the United States he was employed at the Albany Medical Center Hospital and worked in Maintenance and several other departments.
He was recognized by the Hospital for exemplary and dedicated service in part because of his 55 years of employment without taking a sick day.
He was a lifelong member of the Grosvenors Corners Methodist Church.
For many years he served as chauffeur and confidante for Lee Moore the "Coffee Drinking Nighthawk" of WWVA fame and local western singer and entertainer.
He is survived by brothers Glenn O. Mac Millen of Pulaski, NY, Ward D. Mac Millen of Richfield Springs, NY, and Loren H. Mac Millen of Inverness, FL.
He is also survived by; two cousins, ten nieces and nephews, eight grand nieces and nephews and his good friend Tina Gregory and her son Tyler.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
