Obituary of Susan E. Finley

Beloved mother of two, and devoted companion, Susan Finley, age 46, passed away on Monday, March 28'th under the watchful care of Hospice at St. Peters Hospital in Albany, New York. Diagnosed with cancer in October of 2010, she put up a noble and courageous fight against a most formidable opponent. She has left behind a legacy of both caring and optimism apparent to any who crossed her path in life. Many who worked with her may recall her positive "can-do" attitude. Born in Toms River, New Jersey, she moved to Poestenkill, New York in 2000 and began her career at Staples where she worked for eleven years. She raised two children, Stephen and Jamie, and was the faithful companion of James for twenty six years. Susan loved crafts of all sorts. She excelled throughout her life learning a gamut of hobbies ranging from knitting to auto-mechanics. Whatever she worked with she was known to engage with enthusiasm and confidence, turning any experience into an education. Both serious and goofy at the appropriate time, Susan knew when to have a good time and when to approach life cautiously. Always ready to try new things, and to soak in the beauty of the world around her. Susan was a nature lover and found peace living in the country hills that surrounded her. She was also an avid lover of animals. It would be impossible to list all of the animals that she cared for during her life time, each one cared for with the gentle nature of a true nurturer. She worked tirelessly to create a loving environment for her family and to provide stability and support in even the bleakest of times. She always encouraged her children to succeed and to become something in life and to achieve an education. Despite her illness, she still approached each day with an optimistic attitude that sent a message of encouragement and persistence to all those who were blessed to have worked with her during the final months of her sojourn with us. Although her life was short, she was able to share a joy beyond measure to the souls of countless others. She will not be forgotten though she will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
