Tanya, this is such a beautifully written post. A friend of mine relocated to Gloversville last year, amking me think of Paul. It had been a loooong time since we'd spoken, but...thinking of him today, I thought I would check and....there was the obit. I had so much fun with him. He was a wildly interesting man and a complete singularity. I'm going to post a tribute here when I've collected my thoughts. But...thank you so much for this beautiful post. Brian Patton

I will always remember Paul. We met in 1992 when he was the pianist for the Bard College MFA in Composition program. He played a piece of mine, the recording of which was sadly lost. He brought so much caring and attention to it, and we enjoyed so many conversations about music and life during that summer at Bard. We kept in touch periodically over the years, and it was always like we picked up where we left off. He was VERY funny and we laughed a lot together as well. I think we last spoke probably in 2010. He was ill at the time and I knew when I stopped hearing from him that he had likely passed away. He has come into my mind a few times over the years, and I decided to look up his obit today and found this. My mother died of cancer at age 50 in 1994, so I know the pain of this kind of loss very well. Despite it being 8 years, I know it can feel like yesterday. So I send my sincerest condolences now in case this reaches the family. -Tanya Thielke, composer
