My deepest sympathy to all of "Smitty's" family and friends. I remember when I first met the family nearly forty years ago, and we have been friends ever since. I didn't get the chance to see Steve too often, usually a few times each summer at the track. I am glad that I did see him once this summer, but I had no idea that there was anything wrong. Steve will be fondly remembered, and his family is in my thoughts and prayers.

My deepest sympathy is with you at this time. I knew Stephen as I worked at the college. Whenever he was around he was always easy to work with and was a very pleasant person. I remember when I retired, he wished me the best, and for some it would be just something to say, but when it was from Steohen, I knew it was truly meant. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your loss.

Our condolences to Sue, the boys and Rev. Smith and his family. The Presbyterian Church was an important part of my life growing up and I thoroughly enjoyed all our events with Steve and the rest of the Smith's. We had lost touch, but was kept up to date each time I sat in Sue's chair. Please know we'll keep your family in our thoughts.

Sue, Hayden and Harrison, I'm so sorry for your loss but also glad I was able to know Steve. You boys were lucky to have such a great Dad, and Sue a great husband. He always found a way to make a nice conversation was just plain likeable. I miss seeing Steve when it's time to pick up the kids afterschool. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Sue - as we prepare to memorialize Steve tomorrow, we think about how thankful we are for our friendship. You and Steve (and the boys) mean so much to us. Our wish for you is that the stories, music and prayers of the day will help make it easier for you to bear the sadness that you feel. Keep the faith - heaven is a beautifl place! Hayden and Harrison - children are such a reflection of their parents so it is no surprise that you are both such wonderful young men. Your dad will always be so very proud of you. Mr. and Mrs. Smith - thank you for the beautiful gift of your son. You brought into this world such a special man and a true friend to us. Steve - There is so much we could say, but it is hard to find the right words. We have lost a true friend, the kind of friend that you rarely find. We celebrate your life and the time we had together. You will always be with us and we know when we leave this earth, our reunion with you will be a joyous one! Until then.........
