Obituary of Charles Myron Bronk

TROY – Charles Myron Bronk, 82, of Troy, entered into rest on June 23, 2023, at Van Rensselaer Manor. The son of the late Edwin Nelson Bronk and Marguerite (Waddington) Bronk, Charles was born on December 7, 1940, in Watervliet, NY. He attended Troy Public Schools and various U.S. Navy Schools including Management of Officers & Petty Officers Clubs, Ship Store Records, Firefighting School, and Tailoring School. Charles served in the United States Navy from April 1958 until July 1977. He retired as Petty Officer 1st Class (Ship's Serviceman). Throughout his career, Charles served aboard the U.S.S. Little Rock (CLG-4), the U.S.S. Albany (CG-10), the U.S.S. Harlan R. Dixon (DD708) and the U.S.S. T.E. Chandler (DD777). He also served as Manager of the Petty Officers Club at the Point Mugu Naval Air Station prior to retiring. During his Naval career, Mr. Bronk received 5 Good Conduct Medals, 2 Vietnam Campaign Ribbons, 2 Vietnam Service Ribbons and the National Defense Service Medal; he was also awarded the Cruiser Force Battle Efficiency Ribbon while serving aboard the U.S.S. Little Rock. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Bronk worked as a Security Officer, a Truck Driver, as a Painter, a School Monitor and as a Meat Clerk for Price Chopper Supermarkets. He also was the clerk for Fleet Services Corporation and Charter Bank. Charles’ hobbies and interests included activities with his family, attending car shows, movies and watching golf on television. Survivors include his two sons and their spouses: Mathew J. Bronk Jensen (Cheryl) and Charles E. Bronk Jensen (Kimberly). His grandchildren: Stephen M., Breiyan J., Aubrey A., Melanie R., and Madison R. Jensen; Faith Anne Jensen and Nicole Westwood. His brothers and their spouses: William A. Bronk, Raymond J. Bronk (Linda), Harold Bronk (Mary Ann) and Walter F. Bronk (the late Rose). In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by two sisters: Ruth Ann Stewart, Susan McCullough and one brother James Bronk. Relatives and Friends are invited to visit with the Bronk Family on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, from 10AM until 12 PM in the Chapel of The Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180, where a Funeral Service will commence at 12 o’clock in the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will follow the service in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
