Obituary of Timothy P. Simmons
BETHLEHEM –
Timothy P. Simmons, 63, of Glenmont, formerly of Selkirk, departed this life unexpectedly at home on February 26, 2024.
The son of the late Edmund Leo Simmons and Doris Ruth (O’Brien) Simmons, Tim was born on December 22, 1960 in Troy. He was raised in Wynantskill and was a graduate of LaSalle Institute (class of 1979), he then furthered his studies at Hudson Valley Community College.
The devoted husband of the late JoAnn (Kosko) Simmons, whom he married on May 20, 1990, they shared a union that lasted 32 years until JoAnn’s passing on August 25, 2022.
Tim and JoAnn resided in Selkirk for over 30 years, raising their children. After JoAnn’s passing Tim relocated to Glenmont. He was formerly employed in sales with American Forge and Foundry in Guilderland, where he worked for 15 years and continued to work in sales and odd jobs of various capacities to help him stay busy.
Tim was devoted to his family and enjoyed camping trips with his wife and children in the Adirondacks. He cherished every moment becoming a new grandfather. Considerate of others in need, Tim would drive the elderly to their medical appointments. He volunteered each year for Toys for Tots and participated in various functions around the Bethlehem community. An avid NASCAR fan, Tim enjoyed motor sports and was also a member of the ATV Club. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Tim, will remember him for his warm, positive, upbeat demeanor, his humor and his love of cats. His earthly presence will be sorely missed.
Survivors include his two children: Maureen (Brian) Tierney and Timothy Joseph Simmons, his granddaughter Cora JoAnn Tierney, his sister Dianne (Richard) La Pierre, his precious cats Amy and Cooper, as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Tim was predeceased by his brother, Edmund John Simmons and his sister Kathleen Simmons Garland.
Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 4-6PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in the Chapel of the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue (corner of 104th Street) Troy, NY 12180. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the funeral home at 6 o’clock that same evening. All are welcomed.
