Obituary of Erin A. Lange

TROY –

Erin A. Lange, of Ford Road, passed away peacefully after a courageous 8-year battle with breast cancer on May 9, 2024.

Erin was born in Troy, New York on September 17, 1975, the daughter of Doris (Korin) Rafferty. She graduated from Waterford-Halfmoon High School and St. Lawrence University, after living in Spain for a full year and completing her bachelor's degree in Spanish. It was at St. Lawrence where she met her husband, Jason.

After marrying in 1999, Erin and Jason moved to Long Island where she pursued her master’s degree in Library Science from Long Island University and worked as an Archivist for Alcoholics Anonymous.  After moving to Vestal, NY, they were blessed with three children, Oliver, Fletcher and Adelaide. Erin and Jason moved back to the Capital Region soon after having Addie, and, after all three of her children were in school, Erin spent several years working for the Menands School District as a Teaching Assistant, Spanish Teacher, ENL Teacher and finally, their School Librarian.

Erin is survived by her husband, Jason; their loving children, Oliver, Fletcher and Adelaide; her mother, Doris; her three cats, and her favorite companion, her border collie Trixie Belden. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and a core group of friends also survive.

Per Erin’s wishes, there will not be a public viewing. Her funeral and burial were conducted in a private ceremony for her family and close friends only. Funeral Services were from the Riverview Funeral Home, 218 2nd Avenue, Troy. Interment took place in the Waterford Rural Cemetery, Waterford.
